Writing: Gothic historical horror, but make it rococo and a send-up of capitalism, extremism, the orders and ideas in society which as Anne Rice vampires do deprive people of their free will and as such their humanity, as corruption of the 1% as well what with historical hindsight we now know as the Jacobins, Hébertists, Enragés, Dantonists, Thermidoriens, monarchists, monarchy and the notion of absolute puritanical control and what the original novella was regarding the Ancién Regime in its day.
