Barbie (2023) directed by Greta Gerwig is a surprisingly intellectual film for the named leading ladies. Not only is it incredibly self-aware, but it’s also humorous, exceedingly hyperbolic and ridiculous at times but it is well acted, well shot, and very campy. It stays true to its message of being yourself no matter what gossips say.

The film Barbie manages to encapsulate the campy and pink of its doll whilst also posing a myriad of questions on gender roles, patriarchy and how it hurts us all and successfully walks the line between existential and most thoroughly absurd. Praise for Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie!
